The Last 2 Weeks
Hello all, this is Chuck writing.
First off, I want to thank all of you for walking this journey with us. The prayers, calls, texts, messages, food, cards and visits have meant the world to us.
Jill just completed her 2nd week on the medication of Ibrance. So far so good…The side effects have been fairly minimal and her blood counts are good. She is still adjusting to the hormone therapy and is experiencing on/off fatigue, pain and some nausea. The side effects have lessened from the 1st medication since she started the anastrozole several weeks back. She is stronger emotionally and is a trooper and our hope and prayer is that these medicines are working to suppress her cancer from moving and reappearing. She will have a Pet Scan in a few months to determine how effective the radiation and hormone therapy has been. We are confident that they are doing their job!
Just to add a little more stress to our lives, as you know, we are in the process of moving back to our old neighborhood. We are excited to go back and be close to our old and soon to be neighbors again. They have been wonderful throughout this experience. This move, will free us up to do some pretty cool things that we want to do. We are investing in NOW as opposed to the future. Experiences, adventures and connections are what is most important to us from this point on.
Now to answer the question “How are we doing”. Well…. This certainly hit us hard. It really came out of nowhere and it's rare for breast cancer to come back as metastatic after 15 years. There hasn’t been a day that I have not shed a tear. We both have good and bad days. The good days are becoming more frequent. We have had some hard conversations. We know how serious this disease is, but we also know that Jill’s prognosis for the near future is good. We have a lot to live for. We are trusting God to guide us through this journey, and we know that he will.
Please continue praying for us. We can feel them lifting us up. We are also praying for those who are in a battle, no matter what it is.
